WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X

Best and Worst Games I own: 1991 Best: Super Mario World (SNES) Worst: Bill & Ted's Excellent Video Game Adventure (NES) Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage both came out this year. Unfortunately for them, Super Mario World also came out this year. This is the game that came with our SNES, and the one my mom and I spent the most time playing together. 35 years later and this game still has infinite replayability. Bill & Ted has some of the most annoying music ever put in a game, and that alone is enough to make it the worst thing I own from 1991. The rest of the game doesn't help it. What are your best and worst picks for 1991?

Super Mario World or Sonic the Hedgehog? Super Mario World came out in North America on this day in 1991. Sonic had been out since June. My aunt would come over on the weekends every once in a while and bring her Genesis with her. That's how I played Sonic, and I played it well before I ever played Super Mario World. We didn't get an SNES until around 1993. Super Mario World was in the box and me and my mom played it nonstop. I like the original Sonic games but Super Mario World is one of the greatest games ever made. Which one was the better 16-bit game?

Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World? My parents got me Mario 3 for my birthday in 1990. My mom and I played it constantly until we beat it. My dad would stay up late on weekends playing it with me too, and he's not even close to being a gamer. Super Mario World came with our SNES a few years later and my mom and I did the same thing all over again. Both games come with a lot of great memories, but I still think 3 is the better game. Which one are you taking?

Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 19 Super Mario World (SNES) For a lot of us this is the game that came in the box with the console. Ours showed up in 1993, and my mom and I sat there and played it the same way we'd played the NES games, except now I was looking at colors the NES couldn't do and I couldn't get over it. I still catch myself humming the music to this game. It's one of the best games ever made and it's still not the best Mario game. Super Mario Bros. 3 holds that title. What I love about this game is how much of it is hidden but not to the point where it becomes frustrating. Just enough to keep things interesting. There are levels with a second exit you'd never find just beating them normally, and finding one opens up parts of the map you didn't know existed, so the map itself turns into the thing you're playing. Then there's Yoshi. Everybody remembers him as the thing that takes a hit for you, and that's the least interesting part of him. What he really does is change how you get through a level based on what's in his mouth. A red shell and he's spitting fire, a blue one and he's flying. The only negative thing I can say about Super Mario World is Mario feels slippery. But once you're used to it, you stop noticing. Ultimately, this was the last truly great Mario game. The drop off from this to Super Mario 64 was massive, despite it being the most important game on the console. I rate Super Mario World a 5 out of 5.
