WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X

Battle of the N64 Titans Super Mario 64 vs. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Super Mario 64 launched with the Nintendo 64 in North America, with Ocarina of Time coming two years later. Both still get named as the best game on the system. Which one was the better N64 game?

Impossible matchups No. 17 Super Mario 64 vs. Final Fantasy VII They came out less than a year apart on rival consoles, one a platformer and the other a turn-based RPG. Which one was the better game?

Overrated Game of the Day! Super Mario 64 (N64) I was 13 when I first played Super Mario 64 in 1997. This was the first game we played on our N64 and we were all blown away by it. Before the game even started I sat there stretching Mario's face all over the screen. There was not a single video game before this that you could do that on. Mario 64 was revolutionary. This was the most important game that helped launch the N64 and it just did not age well. 30 years ago, we didn't know any better. We didn't think anything of it and just accepted the fact that the camera fights you the whole entire game, with Lakitu never showing you what you actually need to see. Another one of my biggest annoyances with the game is that every time you grab a star, the game kicks you out of the level, which means you have to jump back into the same painting to continue running through the level. Going from Super Mario World to Super Mario 64 was a massive drop-off.

Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 18 Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64) The most important game that launched the N64 and it did not age well. Before the game even started you could grab Mario's face and stretch it all over the screen. I was 13 and I sat there doing that longer than I want to admit. Then the game started and I was blown away by it. Mario in 3D running around in an open world. Amazing for 1996. You jump into a painting, the screen goes white, and Mario yells something that sounds exactly like "nitz pickle." He's supposed to be saying "let's a go." The N64 mangled it so badly that I heard pickle back then and I still hear pickle now. The camera is the worst part of this game. Lakitu is supposed to be filming you and half the time he's got the shot jammed into a wall, so you're pulling the C buttons around trying to see what's in front of you while something walks into you. Don't make the mistake of grabbing a star while you're running through a level. Once you get a star, it kicks you back through the painting, back to the start, and you have to walk the whole thing again. Then there's the swimming. Every water level in this game is like a wrestling match with the controller. I left this game off my N64 top 10 list. Intentionally. It was the most important game on the N64. It wasn't the best one. That's Wave Race and I'm not changing my mind on it. I rate this one a 3.5 out of 5.
