WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X
Street Fighter II or Mortal Kombat?
I rented SF2 from Blockbuster so much it would've been cheaper for my mom to just buy it.
What was your go-to fighting game in the early to mid 90s?
1. Mortal Kombat (SNES / Genesis)
Acclaim is the reason the ESRB exists.
December 1993, Lieberman and Kohl hold Senate hearings.
Not because of an arcade cabinet. Because this game was now in living rooms, and Acclaim is the company that put it there. Nintendo pulled the blood. Sega left it in behind a code.
Genesis outsold SNES on this game and the entire industry read the receipt.
Every rating on every box you have ever bought traces back to a home port Acclaim published.
No other company on this list caused federal legislation.
Not Konami. Not Capcom. Not Nintendo.
