WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X

Impossible matchups No. 16 Wave Race 64 vs. Metroid Prime They came out six years apart on two different Nintendo consoles, and neither one has anything in common with the other. The best game on the N64 vs. the best game on the GameCube. Which one was the better game?

1. Metroid Prime Remaking Metroid into a first person shooter was a no brainer. I bought my GameCube in 2003 and this was the game that blew me away, and it still holds up better than almost anything else from that decade. The graphics felt ahead of its time. Seeing Samus' reflection in the visor was unreal. The overall gameplay was smooth and addictively fun to play. This is the best game on the GameCube.

Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 13 Metroid Prime (GameCube) I was a PS1 only guy until I bought a GameCube in 2003. I'd been playing MLB 2001 and Syphon Filter. This was one of the first games I put in the new console and it blew me away. I had never seen a game look like that. Rain hitting your visor, your own face showing up in the reflection when something blew up in front of you. Coming off the PS1 it was mindblowing. It's close to perfect. There are a few things wrong with it though. The artifact hunt is the worst one. Twelve items you have to go find right before the final boss. You run through Magmoor Caverns over and over just to get from one part of the map to another. And the Chozo Ghosts spawn in, lock the doors, and make you fight your way out of a room you've already been through dozens of times. Late game enemies each need a specific beam to damage them. It's color matching. The Phazon Mines are the hardest part of the game and there's barely anywhere to save in there. Die and you lose a lot. None of that stops it from being one of the best games of the 2000s. Zelda: Ocarina of Time is ranked as the greatest game of all time on a lot of lists. Metroid Prime ranks higher than Ocarina of Time for me. I rate this one a 4.5 out of 5.
