Impossible matchups No. 19 The Legend of Zelda vs. Mega Man 2 They came out less than two years apart on the NES, and both get named as 2 of the best games on the system. Which one was the better NES game?

Overrated Game of the Day! The Legend of Zelda (NES) This game is on every greatest games of all time list out there. You get a sword from an old man in a cave. After that, good luck, the rest is on you. Some of the dungeons you can't even find without burning a bush or bombing a wall. Not any bush either, one specific bush out of hundreds that the game never points out. The few hints you get from the old men hiding in caves barely make any sense. Calling The Legend of Zelda a masterpiece is an insult to real masterpieces. Just kidding. This is one of the greatest games of all time. It's third on my Zelda list, ahead of Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. It was also my pick for the best game of 1987.

3. The Legend of Zelda (NES) The one that started it. Empty inventory, an overworld you can walk in any direction, and nine dungeons you have to find yourself. Nothing tells you where to go, and that's the whole game.

Best and Worst Games I own: 1987 Skipping 1986 since the only game from that year I have is Popeye, and I already gave that one a positive review. Best: The Legend of Zelda (NES) Worst: Ikari Warriors (NES) Zelda doesn't explain anything to you. Sword, field, go. Nobody had a map, everybody had a theory, and most of them were wrong. Ikari Warriors is what happens when an arcade game with a rotary stick gets put on a d-pad. One hit and you're done. Without the continue code I don't think anyone was seeing the end of it. What's your best and worst of 1987?

Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 5 The Legend of Zelda (NES) This game invented an entire genre and is heralded as one of the greatest games of all time. The opening hours are slow, and the game gives you almost nothing to go on. Entire dungeons and critical items are hidden behind burning a random bush or bombing an unmarked wall. Back in the late 80s, you didn't figure that out on your own. You figured it out with a Nintendo Power magazine, a friend at school, or a call to the Nintendo hotline. The Legend of Zelda gets a 4 out of 5 rating from me.
