WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X
Overrated Game of the Day!
Half-Life 2 (Xbox)
Half-Life 2 gets called one of the greatest shooters ever made, and for a lot of PC players it's still the game every other shooter gets measured against.
I just don't see it.
My younger brother is the reason why I even learned about Half-Life 2. He raved about the game relentlessly. He had it on his PC and told me to try it. I gave it a shot and immediately didn't like it, though most of that was because I hated playing PC games at the time. I was all about the consoles.
I eventually tried playing it on the OG Xbox in the mid 2000s. I don't remember how far I got, maybe a third of the way, maybe halfway, but it wasn't doing it for me. Being a massive Halo fan didn't help, because I couldn't stop comparing it to Halo every step of the way.
I have a tough time with games that have poor pacing, and the pacing in Half-Life 2 is slow. The story didn't grab me either. Sometimes if a game has a great story I can overlook some of the other issues I have with it, but this one never gave me that.
A few years ago I bought it on Steam to give it an honest attempt. I was so bored I just couldn't do it.
Over the years I've warmed up to PC gaming, but I still prefer consoles. However, Half-Life 2 is the same no matter where you play it and it's an incredibly boring game.
Half-Life 3 is never coming and for good reason.
Halo 2 vs Half-Life 2
Both came out in November 2004.
Halo 2 was my introduction to the franchise. My best friend rented it from Blockbuster and I went straight to his house after a 10 hour shift at KFC to play it. We ran through the campaign together on co-op in one sitting.
Halo 2 is why I became a fan of Xbox.
Half-Life 2 I've started multiple times and I've never finished it. I have it on Xbox and on PC. On top of the game not aging well, it bores me.
