Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 21 Gran Turismo (PS1) I own every Gran Turismo except GT4. The series peaked with the first one and never got back there. Coming off the N64, my racing games were Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Extreme G, and Episode I Racer. None of them were trying to be a real car. Then this. Real cars, real names, and a game that expected you to learn how one actually drives before it let you race it. I put over 100 hours into this game and maxed out a Toyota Supra. One of my all time favorite real life cars. I know the complaints. Only 11 tracks against 140 cars, and no damage model at all in a game selling itself as the real driving simulator. Neither one ever bothered me. GT7 won't even let you race by yourself without an internet connection. In 2022 the servers went down and nobody could play the game they bought. This one runs off a 29 year old disc in a 31 year old console. I rate Gran Turismo a 4.5 out of 5.
