WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X

Impossible matchups No. 14 GoldenEye 007 vs. Streets of Rage 2 They came out five years apart, and neither one has anything in common with the other except that both still get called the greatest game ever made in their genre. Which one was the better 90s game?

Impossible matchups No. 9 GoldenEye 007 vs. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Both came out on the Nintendo 64 about a year apart, and both get named as the best game on the system. I rented Ocarina from Blockbuster when it came out and kept it a full week before we had to return it. The game was good but running across Hyrule Field got tiresome after a while. We owned GoldenEye and this game turned into a Saturday tradition. My neighborhood friends would come over and we'd play the 4 player multiplayer for hours. Which one was the better Nintendo 64 game?

Best and Worst Games I own: 1997 Best: GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64) Worst: Madden Football 64 (Nintendo 64) 1997 is one of the most iconic years in video game history and easily the best year of the 90s. Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart 64, Extreme-G and Final Fantasy VII all released in 1997. GoldenEye was an event every weekend. Kids in our neighborhood would come over and we'd spend hours on four player multiplayer. I remember renting Madden 64 from Blockbuster and being so confused. It didn't have the NFL license that year because Acclaim had it locked up for the N64 that season, so EA shipped a Madden game with no team names, no logos and no team colors. The Pro Bowl is called the Madden Bowl in it. The Super Bowl is the EAS Championship. What are your picks for 1997?

Impossible matchups No. 2 GoldenEye 007 vs. Final Fantasy VII Both came out in 1997. Both get called the game that defined that year. Kids from my neighborhood would come over on a Saturday and we'd spend hours on four player GoldenEye. I didn't get to Final Fantasy VII until 2001. I ran through the whole thing once and was bored the entire time. Which one was the better 1997 game?

Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 26 GoldenEye 007 (N64) GoldenEye came out in North America 29 years ago today. Growing up, kids from the neighborhood would come over on a Saturday and we'd spend the whole day on local split screen multiplayer. This game caused so many arguments. "Stop looking at my screen!"😂 There might not be a more nostalgic game from the entire decade for me. Shooters on consoles back in the 90s were pretty simple. Get through the level and find the exit. Turok came out on the N64 a few months before this one and that's essentially what it was. GoldenEye had you working through objectives, and playing on 00 Agent piled more of them into levels you'd already cleared. I hadn't played anything that did that up until that point. Shoot a guard in the leg and he grabs it going down. The weapons had zoom. Small stuff, but nobody else was bothering with it. Perfect Dark came out 3 years later. It had bots, so you could get a match going without three other people over at the house. This is the game GoldenEye should have been. GoldenEye is 5th on my all-time N64 list. Perfect Dark is 2nd. The single player hasn't held up the way the memory of it has. Gray hallways and aiming that fights you the whole way. They put it on Xbox a few years back and I gave up on it quickly. A lot of what people love about this one is the Saturday, not the game. I rate GoldenEye a 4.5 out of 5.

Perfect Dark or GoldenEye? GoldenEye is the one everybody remembers, and it earned that. It has a permanent spot in 90s pop culture history. Kids in my neighborhood would come over on a Saturday and we'd spend hours on four player multiplayer. Perfect Dark came out 3 years later and it quickly became the better game. Who's taking GoldenEye over Perfect Dark?
