WHAT I'VE POSTED ABOUT IT ON X

Honest and Unpopular Reviews No. 25 Galaga: Demons of Death (NES) There are arcade games everybody agrees you can't get the same experience out of at home. Galaga is the exception. The NES version is better than the cabinet and it's also a better game than Pac-Man. The first few stages are easy. They fly in and sit in the formation and you pick them off. Ten stages in there are more of them and they're diving at you the whole time. The tractor beam pulls your ship up into the formation and you sit there watching it with one life left. Shoot it loose and you're flying two ships with double the firepower. The challenging stages drop a whole formation in that doesn't shoot back, and at the end it puts your hit percentage on the screen. I played this one on a regular basis as a kid. The furthest I have ever gotten is stage 20. There's no ending to it. No final boss, no save. It goes until it takes your last ship and the only thing that changes is how far you got that time. I rate Galaga a 4.5 out of 5.
